Snowflake Challenge: Day Five

In your own space, talk about your fannish origin story. How did you come to fandom, why did you choose your fannish name, do you have more than one secret identity? Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I feel like if I hadn't gotten into fandom the way that I did it would have happened some other way. I got into fandom through a newspaper article about fanfic. The article included some sites and I followed it up and went looking for fic. The first fic I ever read might have been a HHGTTG one, but I'm not exactly sure. I read a lot of Wolfstar and Jack/Daniel fic on archives, and then I met readbystarlight and she ended up giving me a fairly comprehensive SGA primer, which was how I got onto livejournal.

Livejournal is, I think, where I chose this name, and I've used it everywhere else since. I had at least one name before this, but I'm not active anywhere that I used a different name and I wasn't really that active before I was kiki-eng, anyway; I talked to people on forums sometimes. kiki-eng is the only name I've ever made a fanwork under - apart from my RL name, obviously, and all of the history rpf performance pieces and fic I've done under that for classes.

I'm just curious. Are you an Hawaii Five-0 fan? With your icon of Kono holding a (very pretty) coffee cup, it made me wonder.

I watched the first season and a tiny, tiny bit of the second I think (my memory of canon is never great) and I occasionally slide into reading fic and other things for it.
