Mulan is probably my favorite animated human female Disney character. She's strong and multifaceted and generally awesome. So, art recs:

I love how simple the background is and the way in which minute lines work to help establish the focal point of the piece. I love how ridiculous this piece is, how the motion that Mulan is making to cut off her hair clearly does not translate into the way in which her hair has been cut and is falling; it's cartoon logic and goes well with her kind of non-expression and the title of the work.

I'm incredibly fond of Mulan's face in this - its orientation and her expression. Its a portrait and is kept from being staid by those two choices. I really like the details of her hair as well and am kind of fascinated by the shape of the background, which yes, I realise is an unvaried beige (it's a really nice beige, all right? and it works with the rest of the colours.) and largely the result of the foreground - I just really like the framing and spatial balance going on in this.

This piece is all about the colour, which is rich and varied. I like the quality of the flower in her hair, the details of her hair tie and how it matches her painted lips. This piece is kind of interesting just in how muted some of the dimensional details are - essentially everything's done one the same plane except her face, which the portrait is centred on, and which is falling off of the page; it's an odd contrast.
