First Beatles Record
Aug. 3rd, 2007 10:48 pmScratched and battered.
Sleeveless.
Seven Inch Single.
Let it Be.
It's lovely, and, as I said, my first. I found it looking abused and downtrodden (vinyl can look downtrodden) in a thrift store today. The A-side is so much more worn than the B-side (You Know My Name) that it's almost comic. It's been scribbled on, loved, and discarded, and now it's mine.
I don't go about collecting music conventionally; I've never gone into a music store and bought something for myself, and I've never looked for something specific: I'd never find it. I buy at thrift stores and garage sales, occasionally I'm gifted something, so this is the first time I've seen a Beatles record for sale. They're just not the sort of thing that lingers about, I suppose.
I guess what I mean to say is that, being of an age where there can be no first time hearing them, this is my first, and it's wonderful to have.
