There’s a haunting darkness that echoes in the sound of his clock when he wakes, dreams fading into the corners of his room.
There’s a pair of laughing grey eyes hiding in his copy of Defensive Magical Theory, a Quidditch scar in the wood grain of his bedside table, and a blinding and devastating smile lurking in his grungy closet.
Remus knows better than anyone that the monsters hiding under your bed are real, especially the imaginary ones.
“One day there’ll be a place for us,” Sirius whispers.
He pulls the blanket up, over his head, and waits for morning.
