Harry Potter and Doctor Who
Jan. 15th, 2010 12:20 amSo, I stumbled upon this fascinating picspam of Harry Potter stars, then and now! by
kerrikins, and then proceeded to get really distracted by the entire
howtheylooknow community.
Then I found this post by
reynardo and proceeded to get really distracted.

This is Harry Melling. He plays Dudley Dursley in the Harry Potter films.

This guy is Patrick Troughton. He played the Second Doctor on Doctor Who. Harry Melling is his grandson.

This guy is also one of Patrick Troughton's grandchildren. His name is Sam Troughton. He plays Much on Robin Hood.
Isn't that massively exciting? (I love finding connections like that.)
You know what else is massively exciting to the point of ridiculousness? The guy who plays Oliver Wood in the Harry Potter films, Sean Biggerstaff, has done voice acting for Doctor Who audio plays and the like: Shada with Paul McGann and Lalla Ward in 2003, The Skull of Sobek with Paul McGann again in 2008, and Time Reef with Peter Davison and Sarah Sutton (Nyssa) also in 2008.
There's an interview he did about Shada that's kind of unreasonably adorable. He also has this amazing official website. It's, um, pretty much the cutest thing ever. He sings and plays the guitar. He also has a thing for Douglas Adams. (He mentions it in the Shada interview and it becomes gloriously apparent on the website.)

Holy Fuck Sean Biggerstaff.
Here. Have a list of people who have been in both Harry Potter and Doctor Who.
Derek Deadman who plays Tom the Leaky Cauldron's bartender, also played Stor (Tom Baker era).
John Cleese who plays Nearly Headless Nick was an art gallery visitor (Tom Baker era).
Terence Baylor who plays the Bloody Baron has done Troughton and Hartnell era Who.
Elizabeth Spriggs who plays the Fat Lady played Tabby in Sylvester McCoy era Who.
Julian Glover who plays the voice of Aragog played Richard the Lionheart in Hartnell era Who and Count Scarlioni/Scaroth in Baker era Who.
Jimmy Gardner who plays Ernie the Bus Driver played Chenchu in Hartnell era Who and Idmon in Baker era Who.
Jeff Rawle who plays Amos Diggory also played Plantagenet in Peter Davison era Who.
Christopher Whittingham who plays a ministry wizard was in Davison era Who.
Timothy Bateson who plays Kreacher also played Binro in Baker era Who.
Jim McManus who plays a Barman also played an Opthamologist in Baker era Who.
John Atterbury who plays Phineas also played an alien guard and a robot in Troughton era Who.
Zoƫ Wanamaker who plays Madam Hooch played Cassandra in new Who and was an uncredited villager in Tom Baker era Who.
Adrian Rawlins who plays James Potter also played Dr. Ryder in new Who.
Paul Marc Davis, the uncredited Ghost of the Cavalier has been on all three of the new Who-verse shows.
Shirley Henderson who plays Moaning Myrtle also played Ursula Blake on new Who.
Roger Lloyd-Pack who plays Barty Crouch also played John Lumic in new Who.
Jessica Hynes who plays the voice of Mafalda Hopkirk also played Joan Redfern and Verity Newman in new Who.
David Hankinson plays a London office worker and is a Dalek Operator for new Who.
Jim Norton who plays Mr. Mason played Major Thomas Kennet in animated Who.
Jim Broadbent who plays Horace Slughorn has played The Doctor for Comic Relief.
There's also this guy called David Tennant. He played Barty Crouch Junior and apparently some guy called "The Doctor" in new Who.
(You know what the great thing about this is? I know I'm missing people. I also totally meant to end with that photo of Sean Biggerstaff, but got distracted. Again.)
