Joyful Link Drop
Jan. 12th, 2012 07:17 pmMoving Right Along (from The Muppet Movie)
because singing muppets are wonderful
What Kind of Dinosaur Would You Be?
because this is serious business
The Machine That Made Us - Stephen Fry presents a documentary on the Gutenberg Press
because Stephen Fry presenting is good
(Unrelatedly, would anyone be willing to beta a Lost in Austen story for me in a couple of days?)

Date: 2012-01-13 10:16 pm (UTC)So I enjoyed it. More than some of the kids in the audience probably, I was really amused when they started We Built This City and all of the 80s montages!
And feel free to email it :)

Date: 2012-01-13 09:25 am (UTC)Ahaha, I loved that test. Now I will spam you with the results: "Triceratops. You're a dinosaur, but instead of being frightening and terrible, you prefer to eat vegetables and smile nobly. If dinosaurs had boy scouts, you're the only one who wouldn't eat them." lol. That is totally me.
Have you been following along as I have been comment convo gushing over Stephen Fry in my journal?? This is not helping me maintain a healthy distance! :oP I have actually seen this documentary already, because it has two of my favorite things: books and Stephen Fry ♥
(I could beta, but I have only watched LiA once. Is it more Lizzie?)

Date: 2012-01-13 12:48 pm (UTC)One of these days I am going to do an entry that is nothing but dinosaurs, quite possibly. (I got "Pterodactyl. You wouldn't be satisfied with being a dinosaur. You also have to be a bird. Everyone is very impressed. Now please get back on the ground and be normal.")
I saw a bit, I think? (I have kind of been in hiding recently.) *goes to check* Yeah, it looks like that got a lot more in-depth than when I last saw it.
I have really strong memories of watching that, not the content so much, but of being upset/frustrated at external stuff and that doc being this glorious zen place. (Stephen Fry and books and history. *nods*)
(It is more Lizzy.)

Date: 2012-01-13 01:03 pm (UTC)Dinosaur post FTW. I don't know that much about dinosaurs, but I'm sure I would enjoy such a post. Hee, pterodactyls are the coolest.
(I thought you had been, but then I saw you rec something on bestthingever so I didn't worry too much.) The gushing may have got away from us a bit, but I regret nothing *g*
History, you're right, is also an important factor. Also the sheer competent geekiness of that man at Reading U reconstructing the press from scratch -- now that's dedication!
(Yay. I would like to know what else she can get up to. Send it along if you think I can be helpful.)
