It starts off on a January morning. The room is cold, colder than usual. There’s a bit of pale sunlight coming through the window but it doesn’t hold any warmth.
The bed’s awash with blankets and a man covered like some poor wooden trellis by the ivy that’s his dearest friend is staring off into space.
When does the laughter become routine, practiced, rehearsed? Every motion, every gesture, every speech an act? It’s like the eye of a hurricane, he thinks, chaos all around us, but not a sound, not a breeze within. It’s like having high tea in a war zone. Very British. Very proper.
..and Moony is very proper, for all of his quirks, all of his fur, all of his neuroses. We read a paper together, drink red wine at our married friends’ flat, fuck, while everyone’s afraid.
I want to scream. I want to yell. I want to fight. I want to run away. I want to do anything but come home from work each night, walk into the kitchen, and kiss Remus on the cheek. I want things to change.
