I signed up for kink_bingo this year! I got lured in by kind of a lot of things and I'm pretty excited about it.

I'm pretty amused and happy with it. I like my colourful painted people image and I'm amused at how much overlap there is with my squares. I've got two out of three of the humiliation kinks, roleplay and historical roleplay, whipping/flogging and smacking/slapping (half of the impact play kinks), leather latex rubber and silk velvet feathers furs - there is a lot of interconnectedness happening, basically.

I want to do a rec set, only I have no idea what for at this point and I am going to have to do some list-making and figure that out. I've figured out something that I want to do for my wildcard square, which, I totally had not been expecting to be able to say that but I have sketches and need to find myself the right fabric now, so. Have I mentioned that I'm excited?

So, yeah. If anyone wants to brainstorm at/with me I would be really excited about that.

Recs are always awesome! I always want to do recs, but then I think I don't have enough of a kind.

What kind of product are you thinking of making for the wildcard square? And which bingo are you thinking of trying for?

Well. I think I got all the explicit roleplay? ...and then there are a chunk of things that lend themselves to that well. (I was looking at last years' achievements just now and roleplay bingo was a thing.)

I was actually thinking Gladys from Bomb Girls for class fantasies? In an off the top of my head kind of way? ...because I kind of feel like that is her day-to-day life at this point? ...also the part where she picked up that soldier? I need to read the kink_wiki entry for that.

You've got mechanical/technological - you could write Abed pretending to be a robot? (I feel like this is a thing that exists.) ...or maybe some kind of Bond-villain-esque roleplay for electricity with him? (Abed is really great for all your roleplay needs, I think.)

The recs rule is changed this year so that it is easier, so it's ten works or 500 words, I think, and there is definitely space for meta/rec overlap if you wanted to do that?

I am thinking of making a shirt, and I have no idea which bingo I am aiming for at this point. I am thinking of kind of playing that by ear? I kind of like the second column? (I don't know.)

I think writing Gladys for class fantasies could be really interesting! That could make for really interesting meta/select commentary, as well.

I am actually really excited about dvd commentaries after listening to yue_ix and sophinisba. Because I do have that sense sometimes of "holy shoot, kinky!" and nowhere to put it... But right now I can't think of anything. All the more reason to start keeping a list!

Abed did pretend to be a robot more than once. I just rewatched Aerodynamics of Gender where he morphs into a Terminator-style mean-girl destryoer. Oh Abed <3. And yes, he's totally perfect for all the kink and all the roleplay.

I did not know about the recs change! That is really nice, because 10 works is a lot of stuff to find, I think...

I think something like roleplay flogging would be interesting, just because I think a lot of what gets emphasised with flogging and that kind of thing is the physical element, so doing something where that element's removed - where there isn't that impact on whoever's body and they're roleplaying getting hit instead - feels a little like gutting the kink, so making it work that way would be really interesting?

You're right; Gladys and class fantasies would make really good meta.

I tend not to think of DVD commentaries, despite the fact that I tend to really like that kind of vid commentary when I stumble upon it. If you're thinking of doing recs you will probably happen upon something suitable for your purposes? :)

I have seen him as the Terminator girl in vids but it kind of did not sink in earlier. Abed's a mean girl there? (I have not seen that film but am kind of delighted by the concept of Abed being that or trying that on or roleplaying that.) There is also the Dean for kink and I have read a lot of age difference fic for Annie, I think. I think Community is really kink friendly in general, though I understand the show has some anti-kink in it.

I'm really excited about the shirt? ...and also really amused? Like, there is an element of undercover and also fannishness and the structural stuff to make the shirt work as a shirt, as a kink piece, as a fannish piece, and as something that's not necessarily going to be viewed as a kink piece is something I'm having fun with. ...and it's like any piece of art so I'm interested to see what it's actually going to end up like once it's built. ...and I am also looking at my wardrobe and few of the things I've made over the years and going, Oh, hey. That's kind of kinky, isn't it? *nods* I'm having fun.

Cosplay kink would be cool, too, though that's not something I can see doing myself.

Ohhh, I am so taken with the idea of roleplaying impact play of any kind! That is fairly brilliant, and there could be plenty of reasons why actual impact were impossible/ inadvisable. I think that could be a really interesting exploration. It reminds me a bit of the wiki example of bondage using a drawn circle on the ground -- it must do really interesting things to a person's head.

I think you are thinking of Kickpuncher!Abed, actually, (pink sweater, dark wig?) which is a movie character akin to Inspector Spacetime in that it's a clear reference to a media thing in our world. In Aerodynamics of Gender, the girls in the group tell Abed that being mean to mean girls is okay, and Abed's mind transforms into a computer-type seek-and-destroy interface -- he isn't dressed up or anything, but they film it in classic robot!POV. NOT to say that Abed is not exactly trying on the role of a mean girl, just in his own very Abed way.

Dean Pelton is amazingcakes kinky. I love his very visible doggy/ dalmation Thing, which is a recuring element. He also loves dressing up, to such a degree that a picspam of him doing that would easily fill a post ETA: apropos -- dean fanart.

So yeah, Community is really kink-friendly. I honestly can't say I've come across anything explicitly anti-kink, but of course most kink references are made in a har-har-ew kind of way, like most kink references in mainstream media...

I really like your contemplation of the shirt. I think that's what's so interesting (and challenging) about making 3D items -- trying to make it work as an item, as kinky, and in a fannish context at the same time. Something that flies under the radar would be really cool, as well!

And also, in relation to the ramp-up podcast, I'm also really enjoying thinking of the ways in which the creation/ brainstorming process is itself kinky. Like, how my practice while creating can be kinky. For example, the degree to which voyeurism and control goes in to conceptualizing and drawing a character who's crossdressing.

Yeah, I can totally see someone really liking the idea of impact play but not wanting that actual impact for whatever reason. The traditionally physical as mental/simulated twists things interestingly, I think.

I was totally thinking of Kickpuncher!Abed. I've really liked the episodes I've seen but have somehow not gotten around to sitting down and watching the rest of it. That is maybe a thing that I should do.

That fanart is great, and, yeah, I see what you are speaking of with this costumes thing. :) That's a lot of fun.

The creation process as kinky is interesting. I think maybe what it boils down to in a lot of ways is something like kink is all around. :)

Cool! I feel like you're going to have a ton of fun with this. :) I will admit to a fair amount of confusion wrt kink bingo (I just read the fanlore page! am slightly more informed than previous), but I'm excited to see what you come up with. (Does it all have to be from one fandom? or is that a particular challenge?)

kink_bingo is really kind of flexible in a lot of ways? There's a lot of different things you can do with it. The minimum requirement for being able to sign up for a card again next year is a single fanwork that meets their requirements (so, for fic that's 500 words) completed and posted appropriately, and it works out that the deadline is almost a year after card signups start happening?

It doesn't have to be all one fandom, but I think doing that has been one of their achievements (they're like optional bonus challenges?), as has doing works for all different fandoms. There are a bunch of different things.
