Signups

Yuletide signups are open! Woo! Now I just need to figure out what I want to request and offer out of all the possibilities and figure out my optional details before signups close on the 28th of October and write my letter.

yuletide_admin has a post up about signups as well as one about optional details. Also: I wrote a meta post last year - Optional Details and the Dear Yuletide Writer Letter - that may be useful to some people.

Yuletide is going to be the fourth thing I've signed up for recently and brings the total of things I've signed up for this year up to six. It's a little weird for me, as in the previous three years yuletide's been the only thing I've signed up for, and was the first thing I ever signed up for.

The other things I've signed up for this year are the St. Trinian's Fic Exchange (which is past), kink_bingo (which I'm planning on doing an amnesty submission for), femslash12 (I got my assignment a few days ago), imadeathing (signups are still open, the due date is in February, and I am pretty excited: crafts!), and bandomstuffsit (assignments are supposed to come out this week). I've got this doc with all of my due dates written down in it; it's great. I'm kind of nervous and tentatively excited.

Yay for signing up to all the things! I am working on my Yuletide letter, and it is already pretty massive /o\

I am excited about my femslash12 fic, which is a relief! It's always bit nerve racking right before the assignments go out.

imadeathing looks so shiny, and I am thinking about signing up, but I want to make sure I'll complete it first.

I do not understand this worry about length that you express. Massive letters are clearly awesome.

I got through my first whittling of all the yuletide things last night and there are some happy-flail-inducing things on the list. (You may appreciate this piece on the North American House Hippo?)

Hee. Yeah, I have experienced "Why did I offer that fandom?" angst pre-assignments in the past.

I like that imadeathing extended it's deadline, though I am kind of gloriously unconcerned about it at this point.

I do enjoy reading other people's massive letters, but I find producing my own to be slightly exhausting. And if I write 5 paragraphs about one fandom, I really ought to be able to muster at least 4 for all the others, so that it won't look like I'm playing favorites. But I've posted the bare requests now, so I am at least half-way done :o)

Oh gosh now I want a tiny house hippo in my house! I have lots of soft things for its nest AND chips and peanut butter! That would be a pretty great cross-over fandom, I think. Any quirky fandom + hippos!

Glorious unconcern regarding deadlines sounds delightful! Am I to understand you have already finished a thing?

Yay for being half done. I know what you mean about them being tiring. I've been looking back on my letter from last year and being slightly daunted; I'm more aware of the time commitment of doing a letter like that this year, so there's an organisational strategy this year and a plan to be done early.

Ooh. Quirky fandom hippo crossovers are a great idea!

Aha, no, I have not finished a thing, I just have much less craft-deadline worry than fic-deadline worry. Craft deadlines are much less scary for some reason. It probably also helps that it is farther away.
