kiki_eng: actress, Billie Piper, wearing red glasses and laughing with her face scrunched up (Billie Piper is happy laughing joyful)

Dear Yuletide Writer,

Hi! I'm sorry that this is late. Thank you so much for writing a story for me in one of these fandoms! I am really kind of absurdly excited for whatever it is that you're writing. :)

Requests, optional details and fandoms - with pictures:

Imagine Me & You (2005)

Optional Details: I'd love to read about what happens after the happy ending - about Luce and Rachel, settling into a relationship together or years down the road; or about Cooper and that baby; or about Heck recovering from the break-up and moving forward with his life. I'd love to read about H and her best friend being a lesbian after all, or about H ending up with Heck after she's grown up and into herself; I'd love to read H growing up and being awesome. Fic featuring the relationship between Luce and her mother would be cool, or fic about Rachel's parents' romance, or something fleshing out Edie more. Anywhere you want to go in this fandom would be fantastic, whatever characters, genre, or rating.

[Luce and Rachel smiling and laughing with each other over the punch at Rachel's wedding.]

I love how much joy and laughter there is in this film.

[A shop on the corner called "Flowered Up".]

I love that Luce runs a flower shop. It's like this really excellent visual translation of the barista AU. It means that there are flowers around a lot of the time, which is really lovely to look at. She also has strange customers coming in, which is fun. Luce has Victorian flower language down too, which is great and kind of adorable, basically.

[Luce's mother sitting on the couch at home reading the newspaper while wearing flannel pajamas and reading glasses.]

Luce's mother is wonderful. I love her sort of frustration with social things, the business of meeting people, and her dryness and disdain in the face of that. I love her heart and her feelings. I love that she lets her daughter drag her out places, and I kind of love the backstory of her husband having left her, and her moving forward. I love how she is with Luce, how she is in general.

Luce's friend Edie is also really great. She's kind of manic and brash. There's this scene with her that was cut from the film that's actually rather nice, where you get more of a sense of her bravado, and, just- she seems amazing: bright and bouncy and unapolegetically loud and out and willing to lovingly embarrass her friend.

[Luce listening to H talk]

I love how great Luce is with kids and how much she loves them, and I love H. She's a great little person. Rachel's family is great in general; they're such a family. Rachel's mother is this kind of formidable woman, and her father - her father is amazingly dry and also a total dork. I love the kind of mismatched ridiculous dancing that they do at the wedding, I love that they're not a perfect couple. I love how fleshed out and real so many of the side characters are.

[Cooper and Heck drinking beer together.]

Cooper is sort of amazing. He's a womaniser and a little gross in that he's got a line when he's talking to Heck about coming onto Luce - "Anyone can change teams. *beat* Not anyone, I wouldn't, I- 'cause, you know, but anyone." ...and it's that beat. He's this kind of fascinating combination of entitled asshole and earnest dork. I love how fierce he is in his friendship.

[Rachel staring out through the blinds of an office window.]

I love how Rachel and Luce getting together isn't easy. I love how, when they have that kind of sparking moment as Rachel is walking down the aisle, they both go on as they were. I love how Heck isn't a bad guy, and he's not conveniently written off. I love how domestic he and Rachel are and how obviously fond they are of each other. I love how much a couple those two are, and I love how everybody gets a hopeful ending. It's really wonderful.

Michael Buble Being Stalked By A Velociraptor (Tumblr)

Optional Details: Anything you write in this fandom so long as it has a happy ending for Michael (I find the idea of him being torn to pieces by a velociraptor upsetting) is going to make me so gleeful. I'd love to know how exactly there's a velociraptor; velociraptor backstory and/or world-building would be neat. You could expand on a specific picture and write about, say, Michael Bublé being dancing partners with a velociraptor, or the Hamm & Buble crossover where Jon Hamm is secretly a velociraptor. Fic about Bublé's stalker being gotten rid of and then Bublé moving on from that and being happy would be cool, as would fic about a velociraptor protecting Michael from zombies, or Michael taking down some dinosaurs with the help of someone from Hollywood or the CBC or something.

[Michael Bublé leaning against a wall, a photoshopped shadow of a velociraptor is visible in the background.]

I am pretty sure that Michael Buble Being Stalked By A Velociraptor is the best tumblr ever. It has Michael Bublé being stalked by a velociraptor. I am not sure what else you need.

[Michael Bublé stands in a crowd including a velociraptor.]

I mean, it's Michael Bublé, which is sort of random and great. (Mainstream Canadian pop artists FTW?) I don't really have a lot of feelings about Michael Bublé in general, despite having somehow managed to watch a concert DVD and an interview he did on Q years ago. He comes off as sort of extraordinarily ordinary and pehaps not the brightest. He seems an unlikely person for RPF involving dinosaurs, basically.

[Michael Bublé in a scene from Jurassic Park.]

I think it's that contrast that makes it so great. A lot of the images on the tumblr use publicity photos. Publicity photos are fantastic; they're kind of a world of entertaining all by themselves. I mean, here we've got Michael Bublé sitting down casually, leaning forward, legs apart, elbows braced on his thighs, fingers threaded loosely together, staring into the camera. (I already think that is hilarious.) ...and then he's been photoshopped into the kitchen scene in Jurassic Park. It's glorious.

[Ben Mulroney interviewing Michael Bublé on a talk show with a velociraptor lurking in the background.]

I also really enjoy the fabulous Where's Waldo? aspect of some of these images. It's Where's Waldo? except with dinosaurs. Dinosaurs. It is the greatest.

[Michael Bublé appears to be happily and amusedly stroking a velociraptor.]

There are also some submissions that take the complete opposite tack, which is kind of hilarious and great. There's a fair amount of variation in the skill of the photoshop as well, which is actually pretty enjoyable. There's something awesome about roughly pasted-on heads.

[Michael Bublé sits on a diner stool leaning back against the counter, which a velociraptor holding a cleaning cloth is leaning over. Michael Bublé's signed initials appear in the corner of the image along with "VR", done in the same style.]

Some of the images have some kind of amazing implications. I mean, this one is obviously the AU where Michael Bublé collaborates with a velociraptor, and there are others that are just full of possibilities; they're all a lot of fun.

Never Mind the Buzzcocks RPF

Characters: Josh Groban, Simon Amstell

Optional Details: You could write about Amstell leaving the show and that change, or the tropey highschool AU where Amstell is a secret werewolf, or about Simon being a Grobanite. I'd love to read about them starting up a transatlantic friendship after they meet on the show, collaborating on some kind of project, or engaging in some kind of prank war. Really, anything with these two interacting is going to make me happy, slash or gen - any genre or rating would be amazing.

Never Mind the Buzzcocks is a pop music-focused British quiz show that features, among other things, a lot of mockery.

[Simon Amstell at the beginning of a show.]

Simon Amstell, pictured above, hosted the program for seasons 19 to 22. Since leaving the show he's released a stand-up comedy DVD, Do Nothing, and is cowriting and starring in Grandma's House the imdb synopsis of which reads "A successful television presenter has doubts about the direction of his career in the business and decides to quit to start searching for something more meaningful to do with his life." (Yeah.) He's done some other things as well.

As I understand it he left Buzzcocks having decided that he no longer wanted a career being mean to people. He had a career being mean to people, and then he left it, and in his stand-up show Do Nothing he talks a lot about philosophy, Buddhism, and awkward crushes he's had on men. He's kind of an adorable dork.

[Josh Groban as a guest panelist on the show, laughing.]

Josh Groban appeared on Never Mind the Buzzcocks as a guest panelist in an episode of the 22nd season. He has since returned as a guest host. Having been subjected to months of overplay of his single You Raise Me Up I did not want to like him when he first came on the show, but he was ridiculously charming and amusing. He made Martin Freeman hide his face in the desk and Simon Amstell swing forward in his chair in delight. It was pretty ridiculous.

[Josh Groban, Omid Djalili, and Martin Freeman laughing as Josh Groban tells a joke. Omid is looking away and covering part of his face with his hand.]

There's a lot of laughing and smiling in that episode; it's a lot of fun.

[Simon Amstell smiling at Josh Groban.]

I had not realised this when I originally watched the episode, but Simon Amstell tells Josh Groban that he likes him, and then later asks him if he's single, then if he's interested in finding someone while he's in England.

There's a fun bit when they're doing the Next Lines round:
Simon: "I can be your hero, baby."
Josh, somewhat dramatically at Simon: "I can kiss away your tears."
Simon, amused: "It's 'the pain', but, do go on."

[Amstell asking Josh about his music.]

That episode where Josh Groban's a guest panelist is such a happy one. Everyone spends so much time grinning and laughing.

[Josh Groban laughing.]

There is so much joy. It's great.

Sungkyunkwan Scandal

Character: Cho Sun

Optional Details: Any story with Cho Sun (or whatever spelling you prefer) is going to make me ridiculously happy. You could write about her teaming up with Kim Yoon Hee to be awesome together and maybe getting scandalously married, or something about her relationship with Gu Yong Ha after the main events of the series, or about her and Moon Jae Shin working on their fighting skills together. A modern AU would be really cool. Something fleshing out more of her life as we see it in the series or what came before would be really interesting, too. Really, anything with her would be awesome. I'm going to be really excited whatever you write - any genre or rating would be fantastic.*

*I've switched the order of two of the sentences in this paragraph from my request because it reads better that way. I think maybe I pasted something in wrong when I was writing it, IDK. It's unchanged apart from that, though.

Sungkyunswan Scandal is a historical k-drama set in the Joseon era about a woman, Kim Yoon Hee, who disguises herself as a man in order to get shady academic work at the local bookshop to support her family. When her family's financial situation becomes more dire she takes on riskier work, helping people cheat on the university entrance exam. She gets caught by one of the nobles writing it and the whole thing spirals into her, under her brother's name, being personally admitted to the school by the king. The entire series is basically the most adorable thing ever. (You can watch it on dramafever.)

She ends up with two roommates and all three of them are from different political factions, so when they're grouped together for school-wide contests it becomes this whole friendship and teamwork and grudging respect and national unity thing that the king is overly invested in. It is ridiculous and beautiful.

There's an archery contest at one point, as well as this black-wearing masked man who goes about shooting arrows and spreading political propaganda in the streets at night.

[Man with arrows looking out from behind cover.]

That whole story line is just really great for me. There are so many elements in this series that I love.

Moon Jae Shin is awesome. He's essentially the sensitive beta hero, but he's also the guy who spends a lot of time going about in dark worn clothing rather than the school uniform, who a lot of the school is afraid of, and is incredibly rude when we meet him. He's also noble and principled and angry and caring, basically.

[Gu Yong Ha looking at Moon Jae Shin and smiling.]

Gu Yong Ha is in love with him. Gu Yong Ha is great. There's a lot of the trickster in him. He's this gloriously flamboyant dresser. He spends a fair bit of time being amused at the world, and he likes knowing things and making people dance a little. He also cares deeply about Moon Jae Shin and is a little vulnerable.

[Gu Yong Ha hiding half of his face behind a fan and holding out a hand for Kim Yoon Hee to shake; she looks bewildered.]

I feel I should also mention that one of the villains of the piece, Ha In Soo, legit tents his fingers. He has henchmen, too. It is glorious.

Cho Sun, though, Cho Sun is the best. She's a gisaeng under a particularly powerful and mean man's thumb and she's amazing.

[Cho Sun looking out from under her hat.]

She's incredibly respected by the women she's surrounded by and is probably also the most sought after. She tends to be a lot more reserved than her peers. She's incredibly elegant. I also really enjoy the whole costuming aspect that her being a gisaeng translates into.

[Cho Sun looking up at Kim Yoon Hee.]

She also kind of has awesome taste in men. She falls for "Kim Yoon Shik", who's, yes, Kim Yoon Hee disguised as a man, because he seems to genuinely respect her and care for her in a way that all of the other men she's surrounded by don't. I really love the Cho Sun/"Kim Yoon Shik" storyline. Cho Sun pursues him and when he jerks her around and is clearly more interested in his friend than in her, she walks away and she does it with such style. It's awesome.

[Cho Sun wearing black fighting gear, looking at someone seriously.]

Cho Sun also has some formidable fighting skills and when she's called on to turn them on Kim Yoon Hee she makes a stand. She also plans ahead and sends for back-up; it's great. She's in a bad situation and is amazingly competent and just generally this complex and wonderful person.

I like sex safe and consensual. I'm not a big fan of professional ethics violations - e.g. I don't like doctor/patient. I do like relationship barriers; I like people sorting things out or getting over their issues so that they can establish that relationship. I like that tension.

Characters role-playing non-con is something that I'm good with. If you want to write a story with kink or sex I'd be excited to read it; I'd be excited to read a story without those elements, too. If you want to write a story about an asexual character - or an aromantic or a genderqueer or a trans character - I'd be happy to read that as well. Same goes if you want to write polyamory.

I don’t like character-bashing.

"Lame" and "girlie" are both words that I don't really like. I don't like "lame" when it's used in an ableist context and I don't like "girlie" when it's used as a substitute for a person's name. I'm not really a big fan of enforcing gender stereotypes, either.

I want to clarify with my Never Mind the Buzzcocks RPF request, because I just listed gen and slash, that you're welcome to ship them with other people; if you want to include some het with Josh Groban that is very much okay.

I love fanfic. I love it for its ability to fill in gaps in a story, to flesh out characters, to explore an idea, to make a point, to be diverting, to show me something I didn't see before. I love its many versions of the same story; I love its tropes. I love its subverted tropes. I'm going to be really excited whatever direction you go in. I love the fandoms and characters I requested. Please, write what you want to write; the optional details are very much optional.

Have fun! And thank you so much, again, for writing something in one of these fandoms! You're awesome!

You disabled OpenID comments, so I just got a dreamwidth account to tell you that I love everything you said about Nevermind the Buzzcocks and can't believe I didn't notice the direction of Simon's questioning at the time I watched that episode. I really, really hope someone writes NBD for you so I can read it. (or Michael Buble with velociraptors, of course) Ngl fic about Groban and Buble being bffs would be great, too, what with that whole Groban crashing his concert thing (i.e. if you have found any, do tell *___*). So yes. Happy Yuletideing!
