I have acquired a Demi Lovato CD. Temporarily. As one does. This is kind of a big deal for me. I think it should be remixed as an electro-dance thing with Nintendo music, and like, spoon bits thrown in, or, ooh, thrash. It is not my thing - that is about the kindest I can be - and I suspected that this would be the case, but picked it up and listened to all of it anyway. [I'm in three other musical fandoms and haven't done this for any of them. (I have a better chance of actually liking that music, too.)] Twice.

I also watched Camp Rock the other night, also for Demi Lovato. (The Jonas Brothers were a bonus.)

The Jonas Brothers, along with Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez and (I suspect) a host of other people that I haven't properly run into yet, are all part of the Disney RPF fandom, which is apparently* something that interests me these days. They are shiny and adorable, so there's a fair bit to be interested by, I think.

Demi and Selena apparently have this amazing love-fest going on, and there's all kinds of awesome fic and other stuff about it in existence. I shall start with the explanatory bits:

This is extraordinarily happy and features some wonderful Robin Sparkles-esque photos and this hilarious and adorably fuzzy femslash narrative. There are hugs(!) and pretty dresses and funny faces and plaid and vests and things. It's a pretty good introduction to the shiny.

This is really good for details and as a kind of outline of where the shipping is coming from - salient plot points, if you will. There are some really fun photos and a fair bit of embedded video in this for explanatory purposes. (I am quite partial to the photos of Selena on a skateboard.) It is explanatory and kind of casually awesome.

There are all kinds of pictures and gifs of them all over each other and all of these (regrettably unsourced) ridiculous quotes that essentially boil down to My love, my forever girl, I WILL WRITE YOU THIS SONG with a side of haters to the left. Their relationship is apparently one of epic love and BFF-ness; it's a pretty fantastic post.

I really like the Demi in this, who's kind of awkward and scared, a little bit violent in her friendship and a bit of a sop. There's fumbling romance and people being clueless. Joe is pretty awesome and the whole thing is generally happy-making.

The day before their first day of high school, Selena bikes over to Demi's house and they sit in her backyard, barefoot and holding hands.
I love the evolution of their relationship in this; it's bumpy and sweet and convincingly teenaged. I love how prickly and defensive Demi sometimes is and the odd social dances and kind of flaily communication that people engage in whilst being incredibly earnest. (amathela's fic is set in this universe, so there's a bit of overlap; each is a wonderful high school AU.)

*I'm always a little bewildered when I end up with a new fandom; I tend to go into things with little or no knowledge of the canon and that contributes to the feeling, I think.
