In your own space, talk about why you're participating in Snowflake and, if you’ve participated in the past, how the challenge has affected you. What drew you to it? What did you take away from it? What do you hope to accomplish this year? Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I've been participating in [community profile] snowflake_challenge since 2013 and in previous years it's been like fresh ink on a blank page, like a beginning, and a fitting place to start a new year. I knew about the challenge for a couple years before I participated in it and it was this flood of creativity and productivity and friendliness on my flist and I wanted to be writing those challenge posts, so one year I did, and participating in the challenge was what I thought it would be, and better. It turned out to be so much of everything I love about fandom all in one place at once, and kind of the best gift ever.

I've made friends because of this challenge and I've created things and connected - briefly and long term - with people over things I otherwise wouldn't have thought to share; it makes me feel connected to fandom, and it's a slice of brightness. This year I needed [community profile] snowflake_challenge for that slice of brightness. December was hard. Fall was hard. It's nice to be able, now, to kind of shake that off with this.

Yes, this! I also watched it go by on my f-list for several years before I dove in. It was so ~rejuvenating! Like a fandom spa. *g* I've enjoyed reconnecting to old friends and connecting with new, as well.

I feel the same way. Snowflake is such a positive experience and it's a wonderful way to start the year.
