Untouched episode reaction notes and then scattered after-thoughts:
The Rebel Flesh
...what?
Really?
Rory: "Doctor, my tummy's going funny."
Doctor: "Assume the position."
Rory: "I'm telling you. When something's running for you, it's never for a nice reason."
Doctor: "I've got to get to that cockerel before all hell breaks loose. I never thought I'd have to say that again."
TARDIS!
Rory: "For want of a better word: ow."
left his boots behind
Hee!
Almost People
Doctor: "Yes, it's just so inspiring to hear me say it."
Rory gets this.
A Good Man Goes to War
"Melody Pond"
Melody -> Song
Cybermen!
Soldier?
Rory: "Where is my wife?
Rory.
Moffat.
embroidery?
"We're the thin fat gay married Anglican marines. Why would we need names?" WTF
Conversion. Awesome.
"Are you ready to make a donation?"
"Another case cracked I assume."
She's kind of awesome.
"...that anger is always the shortest distance to a mistake."
Human + Timelord
"...could she even regenerate?"
Doctor: "That's all human and private stuff. They don't put up a balloon or anything."
Doctor: "Why would a timelord be a weapon?"
return: "They've seen you."
"That's the attack prayer."
"Rory, I'm a nurse."
Doctor: "I am so sorry."
Lorna
Doctor: "I remember everyone."
Doctor: "They're always brave."
"You're giving up. You never do that."
River.
WTF.
I'm kind of seriously thrown/skeeved by how they establish that the copies are equal to the originals and so on and then the Doctor kills Amy's double.
I feel very strongly that the gay married anglican marines should have had names.
Also: headless religious zombies. Subtle, Moffat.
Madame Vastra and Jenny were awesome.
Should the translation matrix really work in absence of a Timelord/TARDIS?
I liked how much stuff got pulled on, how many characters came back and how many episodes were referenced.
I don't have Amy down in my reaction notes once, which- WTF. I'd really like to get to see her do something.
The Doctor wasn't that scary in the last episode. Just, in terms of "darkest hour" - The Time War, Waters of Mars.
I would kind of like Madame Vastra and Jenny on the TARDIS.
I'm not sure that I like River's backstory.
I'm a little amused at the River Tam/River Song parallel - a ~special~ girl that they try to make into a super soldier.
I'm not sure how to process the things were done to her aspect of River's backstory.
The Doctor asking Rory permission to hug Amy: No. No. People are not possessions. Women are not possessions.
I liked the Doctor's crib! I liked the mobile! The mobile was nice!
...was there anyone besides the commander who was neither white nor an alien? (Please tell me I'm forgetting someone.)
...and now we've got to fall and they're apparently doing Hitler.

Here from latest things

Date: 2011-06-08 05:38 pm (UTC)Also, when you put it like "things were DONE to River" it looks like such a parallel to how "things were DONE to Amy", but I am not even sure Moffat sees it like that? There are some really good things going on, in terms of narrative and characterization, but I am really worried about his treatment of Amy and River.
There was a black female soldier on screen for 1 second, I really think that is it :o/ In much the same vein, the gay anglican soldiers SHOULD have had names AND they should have both lived :o(
I think the translation matrix works with the TARDIS, which was right nearby (I assume the force field only kept them from reaching it, not kept it from working?).
And yes, I facepalmed so hard at the Hitler thing. DNW.

With the chanting and disarming?
I think the tee hee of the we do not have names thing got to me more than the homosexual dying tragically. (I kind of miss RTD for this.)
I think that there needing to be a timelord was established in Tennant's first Christmas special, so, The Doctor and TARDIS leaving at the end of the episode and then the script translation going through is a bit mystifying. (I guess we have to assume that River has translation capabilities even without being a full timelady or having a TARDIS?)
I am kind of hoping for a bait and switch? Where Hitler's just a last name, so ze's a shop keeper in Essen or something and there are killer grubs in the last shipment of vegetables? I see that as pretty unlikely, though, so there's a fair amount of trepidation.
