Femslash Ficathon and Yuletide Nominations

I signed up for femslash12 last week and have made a fair number of excited noises reading other people's sign-ups. Last night I spent a little bit of time trying to convince somebody that they want to sign up because Avatar: The Last Airbender, Bat-family, Disney animated films, New Who, Harry Potter, Marvel Avengers movieverse, and Once Upon a Time are all fandoms included on the list this year* and clearly they want to write a story about women being awesome and having adventures and maybe also being a little in love with each other and possibly adopting a puppy. Sign-ups close on October 2.

*You offer at least one listed fandom and make 4-6 requests when you sign up, one of which has to be a listed fandom and up to three can be fandoms not on the list. Rules here.

yuletide nominations are also open right now and close on October 3. As usual, I haven't figured out what I want to nominate yet. I'm thinking maybe Sungkyunkwan Scandal and am also thinking about New Waterford Girl and Bomb Girls and Calvin & Hobbes and The Enchanted Forest Chronicles and St. Trinian's and Imagine Me & You and maybe Canadian History RPF, just so that I can nominate Sir John A. for purposes. Yay, femslash12, I signed up! I am a little bit keeping tabs on noms to make sure no one requests only pairings I can't write for New Who. I find the inclusion of TW and SJA very daunting. Still waffling on whether to go back and add Korra/Lin for requests...

New Waterford Girl sounds amazing, I should check that out! I asked hllangel yesterday and they said they would for sure nom Bomb Girls (Betty, Kate, Lorna, Gladys).

Yeah, the New Who category is made up of a lot of stuff. I've been watching the nominations to see if anyone requests a source I've forgotten about and also with a kind of growing curiousity as to whether or not someone requests one of the two listed fandoms I offered. (No one has! That is okay but also a little strange.)

Hm. Would getting Korra/Lin make you as happy as any of your other requests?

It looks like someone's uploaded New Waterford Girl to youtube if that's useful to you?

It is good to know about Bomb Girls; this means I do not have to nominate it. :)

No one requested The Devil Wears Prada? O_o Did we actually achieve the number of TDWP fics we think the world should contain? The mind, it boggles!

I am not nearly as invested in Korra as I am in the other things, so no. No, not really.

I think it means that most people in the fandom have moved on to other things; the film was six years ago. It's interesting that it made the list and doesn't have any requests, though. Discworld's almost like that, too - there's just the one request right now. I think maybe those are both fandoms that a number of people are in but less invested in?

That would probably explain it. I guess the fact that people are required to request one listed fandom might also make more people tick a fandom without being genuinely interested.
