I'm doing what I inaccurately refer to as "Femslash February" again this year. It's a month where all of the fannish content I consume and produce is focused on female characters, either gen or femslash.

This year is such a contrast to my first year of doing that in February; I feel like there is so much going on this year. It's awesome.

Femslash February is a thing on tumblr this year (I think it started last year but it seems to be taking off a lot more this year?) where you pledge to create at least two f/f fanworks in February. [personal profile] calvinahobbes has posted a rundown here with all kinds of handy details and links.

In response to Femslash February [community profile] femslash_kink (for kinky femslash) is running this month and [personal profile] sophinisba is hosting a Merlin Femslash Promptfest on her journal. [livejournal.com profile] xlivvielockex is hosting SHE'S GOT LIPS LIKE WINE NOT SUGAR: A Multifandom Comment Ficathon for Femslash February.

As usual, [community profile] halfamoon/[livejournal.com profile] halfamoon (a 14 day challenge celebrating women, with all of its content focused on female-characters) and [livejournal.com profile] 14valentines (It's " based on the idea of fandom as a community composed of women and their allies and the power of the relationships there. It's meant to raise awareness -- and hopefully as a result increase participation in organizations devoted to women's causes." A wide variety of content is accepted.) are, as usual, running the first half of this month.

[community profile] audiofemme is running a gen f + f audiofest - Arm in Arm // Fist to Fist that you can still participate in. Posting runs the 8th - 14th of February.

[profile] rarewomen nominations are happening right now, closing on the 7th. [profile] rarewomen is a 1,000 word fic gift exchange that focuses on the rare women of fandoms large and small.

[livejournal.com profile] fluffyfrolicker is hosting a multifandom women comment ficathon right now.

Author signups for [livejournal.com profile] heroinebigbang opened on the 20th of January.

This isn't, strictly speaking, female-centric, but [community profile] tightpresent is a Sarah Connor Chronicles vid exchange; sign ups are open 'til the 16th of February.

There's a lot of stuff happening. It's exciting. There's a lot of buzz around Femslash February, which is really cool, and is a post that I need to reblog, as I will be posting two femslash fanworks this month, barring unforseen circumstances. (There was an attack of unforseen circumstances this January; I'm wary.) I also want to remind people that recs are fanworks; there are all kinds of ways besides writing fic to participate in this challenge. (You should participate in this challenge.)

[personal profile] ein_myria maintains a really awesome list of Dreamwidth F/F-related community links on [community profile] girlgay that's a good resource.

I'm really excited about February! I am considering running a fest called "Lady Werewolves for Lupercalia", the post and promo for which would need to be done, like, yesterday, since Lupercalia is the 15th of February, but lady werewolves. (I have started writing a fic.) I've also got a list of all of the female-centric content I've created over the last few years that I was going to post here but I think am psyching myself up to post on [community profile] halfamoon; I like it when other people post those lists of their works, I just do not entirely like the idea of doing it myself.

Is there any female-centric gen or femslash content you've created? (Links are awesome, basically.) Or do you have fandom or fanwork or character recs? (Laaaadies, essentially.)

I love this whole post so much.

I had forgotten you do Femslash February. I feel like I've already failed that a bit, but maybe I should make an effort to focus more on the ladies for the rest of the month...

I am so tempted by audiofemme! (Who am I kidding, I want to participate in ALL the challenges :oP) But I actually wasn't able to scrounge up something I felt comfortable reading when I looked around. (I'd prefer to read my own for my first podfic, but I haven't really written anything gen-ish?)

I am excited that you're planning to post two things! Yay! Let me know if you need any help with that.

Aw, lady werewolves is an excellent idea! If it doesn't happen this year, it definitely should next year.

I probably have time, but project Acquire Microphone is taking quite a bit longer than I thought it would :oP

Awesome! On comm AND fic counts. But did you promote the comm anywhere???

That's a delightful amount of promo-ing. I've reblogged your post on tumblr, but I'm not sure how much of a boost that will be... (Urgh, technical problems are the worst!)
