kiki_eng: Annie Monroe of The Like wearing sunglasses (bandom) (Annie wearing sunglasses)

I didn't participate in [livejournal.com profile] yuletide this year. I had this clever plan for what I was going to request for what would have been my fifth year doing it- fandoms I had previously requested. It was going to be fantastic and simplify a lot of my yuletide process, but nominations happened and I forgot the plan and then made the call not to sign up because I was busy. I'm glad I didn't do it this year; there was a lot of busy-ness.

I did make time for the [community profile] bandom_holidays exchange, though, because [livejournal.com profile] bandomstuffsit was my favorite exchange last year. It was lots of fun this year, too. I received this incredibly adorable Jon/Patrick story wherein they work in television and pine after each other.

Until We're All Found Out by [archiveofourown.org profile] daniomalley
Rating: G | 3,149 words | Patrick Stump/Jon Walker
Summary: Jon loves being a camera operator for CSTV, not least because he gets to see Patrick Stump every day. If only the other man would notice he was alive.

I wrote a Pete/Patrick high school AU for [archiveofourown.org profile] ladyfoxxx.

We're All Sensitive People
Rating: PG-13 | 2,811 words | Patrick Stump/Pete Wentz
When Patrick goes to the next meeting with the AV people he gets a round of applause when he walks in. Gabe tells him that he is "So proud of you, grasshopper, for heeding my advice and spicing up your life and making a difference with music."

I think this might have been the first time ever that I had a title before I finished writing. It was very useful and I liked it.

I feel like all of the bandom people have DJ-ed at some point. One of Tennessee Thomas' sets is online at soundcloud here - it's fun and includes Roller Girl by Anna Karina, which is in the fic but not by name. There's a video of Patrick Stump singing Let's Get It On, a previous youtube posting of which gave the context that this was during a visit he had made to his old high school. The version he did then is very in line with the Marvin Gaye version; Patrick's performed this song since on stage and at radio gigs more in his own style. I spent a fair amount of time poking around on youtube, watching a lot of videos, including Spice Up Your Life, which I hadn't seen before and which appears to depict a grim dystopia wherein the Spice Girls are part of the oppressive government regime?
