Hermione Granger's Hogwarts Crammer for Delinquents on the Run by [archiveofourown.org profile] waspabi
Harry Potter | PG-13 | 93,391 words | Draco/Harry, Hermione/Ron
Summary: 'You're a wizard, Harry' is easier to hear from a half-giant when you're eleven, rather than from some kids on a tube platform when you're seventeen and late for work.
+ A really thorough what if AU. I love the title to pieces and this whole voyage.

Every Story is a Love Story by [archiveofourown.org profile] lady_ragnell
Merlin | NC-17 | 24,639 words | Arthur/Merlin
Summary: Camelot Publishing publishes romance novels, and when Arthur founds a new imprint of gay romance and invites his best friend and pet writer Merlin to write for it, it's a bit too easy to miss the fact that apparently he's living in one.
+ Gloriously fluffy writer/editor AU with Morgana and Uther being kind of magnificent. There's some nice obliviousness and pining in this.

infinitesimal being by [archiveofourown.org profile] sarahyyy
Yuri!!! on Ice | PG-13 | 9,816 words | Yuri/Otabek
Yuri snorts, and pushes his glass of ice tea away. “Alright, it’s been fun listening to your story, but I actually do have other more important things to do than to listen to you telling me that I’m destined to be your bride.”
He stands, and Otabek follows suit. “If it’s the terminology you have an issue with-”
“It’s not,” Yuri assures him. “It’s more of the fact that everything you’ve told me so far sounds like a goddamn fairytale that only children believe in.”

+ The shape of this is really wonderful. Irreverent manservants, epic prophesied love, and sniping?

Landsailor by [personal profile] raven
Multifandom | 3:46
Music: Landsailor by Vienna Teng feat. Glen Phillips
We're gonna need a bigger boat.
+ Humans and technology and cooperation and dreaming, math-ing, and science-ing. Soaring.

Council Estate by [profile] danegan
Attack the Block | 2:21
Music: Council Estate by Tricky
Summary: Can't take what you are
+ This is a really great kind of encapsulation of the film and one of its main themes. It's what made me go and sit down and watch the film, and, after having watched it, reminds me of why I liked it so much.

You Got The Love by [archiveofourown.org profile] shinyjenni
Hidden Figures | G | 2:48
Music: You Got the Love by Florence + The Machine
You got the love I need to see me through.
+ I love this. The love is love and friendship and camaraderie and science and determination and family and belief. Florence has a good voice for this kind of story, and I love this story, this film.

Born to Fight by [archiveofourown.org profile] AurumCalendula
Hidden Figures | G | 2:45
Music: Born to Fight by Tracy Chapman
I ain’t been knocked down yet
+ I love the structure of this and, again, I love this film and the narrative that this vidder has weaved with it.

Dear Fellow Traveller by absinthespoons
Due South | 3:36 | Fraser/Kowalski
Summary: Fraser & Kowalski are a beautiful fairytale romance filled with heroics and insecurity and a bajillion campfires, fight me.
+ Yeah, this is Fraser and Kowalski, alright.

Out Here by [archiveofourown.org profile] heresluck
Due South | PG-13 | 3:30 | Fraser/Kowalski
Music: Out There by Peter Mulvey
Summary: I swear that I am working on what keeps me miles away
+ Angst with a happy ending, I think. There's vid commentaries available, also, which I should check out at some point.

Live in This City by [archiveofourown.org profile] heresluck
Ghostbusters | PG-13 | 2:42 | Ensemble
Music: Live in this City by Dragonette
Summary: This city can't live without me us.
+ This vid is a party, with explosions, and all of the ladies being awesome. ♥

Speak Your Heart by [archiveofourown.org profile] Josette_Arnauld
Moonlight | PG-13 | 3:40 | Chiron/Kevin
Music: Speak Your Heart by Lizz Wright
I see the words behind your eyes.
+ Feelings and longing looks. The eyes. This is, like, beautiful gentle swaying longing and- my heart, basically.

Drought by [archiveofourown.org profile] kaydeefalls
Mad Max | R | 3:37 | Furiosa
Music:Drought by Vienna Teng
and the taste of dried-up hopes in my mouth
+ Still processing this, but- Furiosa and her battles to the rough arc of the film, I think.

Got Her Own bu [archiveofourown.org profile] bingeling
Black Sails | PG-13 | | Eleanor Guthrie/Max, Anne Bonny/Max
Music: Got Her Own by Syd
Summary: I think Max is the best. So I made a vid about how Max is the best.
+ I do not know this fandom but I love this.

Take my Heart by [archiveofourown.org profile] lilly_the_kid
The Color Purple | G | 3:04 | Celie/Shug Avery
Music: Take my Heart by Soko
Summary: if I take your heart, I will heal these old wounds
+ Sweet and heart-wrenching.

I Took a Pill in Ibiza by [personal profile] beerbad
Wynonna Earp | 3:16 | Wynonna
Music: I Took a Pill in Ibiza (Seeb Remix) by Mike Posner
Summary: A family curse, a magic gun, some demons, and a whole lotta feelings. (a S1 character study of Wynonna)
+ I don't know this fandom at all, and this vid is such a pull into the world of the show. Engrossing.

We Built This City by [archiveofourown.org profile] Kurukami
The Expanse | PG-13 | 4:58
Music: We Built This City by Starship
Summary: A common Belter saying is "The more you share, the more your bowl will be plentiful." We all know life isn't always dat simple out in the Big Empty, true. Dere will always be arguments an' disagreements -- Belters got no sense of humor about anyone who screws with water an' air, sa sa que? -- but exploration, pioneering, finding new places to build community?
Dese t'ings are de future.
We are de Belt. Dis is our story, and dese are de cities we have built.
+ This is great, like a love letter to places and ships and maybe the show, and such a good sci-fi thing.
kiki_eng: Annie Monroe of The Like wearing sunglasses (bandom) (Annie wearing sunglasses)
You Told the Drunks I Knew Karate by [personal profile] settiai
Doctor Who | PG | 2:48 | Rory/Amy
Summary: "I do the dumbest things for you." Oh, Rory. No, scratch that. Oh, Ponds. ♥
Music: You Told the Drunks I Knew Karate by Zoey Van Goey
+
The song that this is set to is so much fun and also a perfect choice that [personal profile] settiai uses to lay out this descriptive exploratory piece on Rory and his relationship with Amy and their relationship with the Doctor - and it's a romp. It's their loyalty and playfulness and striving and everything that makes them Ponds and made that part of the show a delight even when it was heart-wrenching- and it's *chinhands*ing and hearteyes and grin-inducing.

In the Mirror by [archiveofourown.org profile] heresluck
Due South | PG-13 | 2:40 | Fraser/Ray K
Summary: I need a reminder of what I'm doing.
Music: In the Mirror by Nada Surf
+
A yearning, hopeful punch in the feels about kinship with great timing - I have spent so much time just watching how these two move in this and how the song falls around that; it's really lovely. It's also this perfect treatise on how life can feel and why people relationship. There's humour and this quiet sedateness and a steadiness to it and joy.

Moves by [livejournal.com profile] sisabet
Teen Wolf | PG-13 | 3:15 | Stiles
These things get louder.
Music: Moves by The New Pornographers
+
Stiles' descent into the supernatural and just- him; it's a really great character piece, full of flailing and frustration and straining and tiny victories. There's Danny classed alongside Lydia, which I really appreciate, and all of the sides of the supernatural world that try to take a piece out of him. There's his relationship with Scott and with his father, really great facial expressions, fumbles and fist-pumps.

Take Your Guess by [archiveofourown.org profile] bingeling
Sports Night | PG | 2:15 | Dan
Summary: It's all just chaos. And that's fine.
Music: Take Your Guess by Tom Rosenthal
+
Dan Rydell and his relationships, the things that didn't go his way, the battered bits, and everyone he loves. Found family, team, and, yeah, chaos. Feelings, how the people around you matter, and keeping on. Part character study, part ensemble vid, part partnership; I have a lot of feelings about Dan Rydell's eyes now and his relationship with Casey.
kiki_eng: text: "i ate ALL your bees" (Black Books) ("I ate all your bees.")
So, this is very, very late; I am declaring the second annual half-a-fortnight-long celebration of [personal profile] readbystarlight. (Yay [personal profile] readbystarlight!) You asked for Due South vid recs, so:

You Can Call Me... by [livejournal.com profile] sdwolfpup
I’m of the impression that this is kind of the Due South recruitment vid, which I get, because the reason that I love this vid is that I love Due South. There’s so much of what makes Due South awesome on display here. Paul Simon’s song is divvied up amongst Fraser and the two Rays, perfectly, and there’s so much of each of their personalities visible in this, and it’s joyous and bouncy and the sort of thing that engenders warm, fuzzy feelings.
(Song: You Can Call Me Al by Paul Simon)

Satellite by [livejournal.com profile] sdwolfpup
It’s Vecchio and Fraser, and it is kind of mind-bogglingly pretty and has this amazing flow. The song is very much the narrative in this and it’s impressive. There’s longing in this. There’s also belonging in this, that sort of partners thing that Fraser has going on with Ray. There’s gorgeous emotion and a sort of quiet intensity in this. It’s lovely.
(Song: Satellite by Guster)

Needful by [livejournal.com profile] fenlings
It’s Fraser and need, and kind of the story of Fraser throughout the series, which is good, because otherwise this could be the most depressing vid ever. The song that it’s set to is like something out of a soundtrack, designed to pull at your emotions; there’s a piano, a really sparse drum line, a deliberate weakness in the vocal, and then a soulful violin to top it all off. It’s kind of devastating in that it’s an incredibly accurate fit to Fraser and need; it’s moving. There’s a lot in this vid, just in terms of content; it’s almost six minutes long and it uses them. It’s powerful.
(Song: My Skin by Natalie Merchant)

Can’t Stop This by [livejournal.com profile] voiceless009
I made it exactly 24 seconds into this vid the first time before I had to pause it and start laughing hysterically; it is awesome. No, seriously. It’s Fraser/RayK and it’s like all of the wonderful slashy goodness of the show bundled up and bedecked with ribbon. It’s bouncy and fun and the song is incredibly well used. I’m not sure it’s actually possible to watch this and not be happier afterwards.
(Song: No Sleep Tonight by The Faders)
